Our Christmas supper

According to the tradition, every year, the Board of Administrators offers the tenants a Christmas supper.

Thanks to Carolyn who, with the help of Carol, organized the whole event 🙂

We received an absolutely delicious meal, cooked and served by Jennifer Turcotte ( Chez Giardino ) and an irresistible dessert !!

Two members of the Board joined us, Brenda Burridge and Susan Heid, who mercifully helped with the distribution of Christmas cards and some meals.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.

Update on the children’s visit

The MHES children, grade 3 and 6 , visited us yesterday afternoon to decorate our outside Christmas tree

There was singing, and the music was provided by Super Folks as usual , thank you so much !

On behalf of the tenants thank you all and wishing you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year

Food drive

Food drives are operated in order to stock food banks that distribute food to homeless people, soup kitchens, vulnerable seniors, orphanages, refugees, and victims of disasters.

There are also food drives to help people hold feasts on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Many are organized by community organizations, non-profits, churches, and even individuals.

As Carolyn mentions “Happy to have been able to re-instate the food drive with the seniors at the Glen apartments this year, because of Covid we were 2 years without.

Thanks to all those tenants who in the generosity of their donations, made it a success. A big shout out to Mike Tott for braving the snowstorm to come and do the pickup for us.”

Some of the food drive donations 🙂

Purse Project

The Morin-Heights Purse Project is now underway!

Many of you may remember our grassroots Purse Project collecting gently used purses filled with love, a.k.a. toiletries including numerous items!

For example:

Soaps, shampoo, conditioner, cream, shaving cream, gift cards, sweet notes for the recipients, candy, chocolate, nail polish, gum, razors, Kleenex, sanitary napkins, etc. etc… all welcome!

As an added bonus, residents from The Glen Apartments & The Morin-Heights Elementary School 6th grade students have offered to write Christmas Cards in both French & English to add to the purses.

A donation of cards will also be appreciated

Also accepting hotel items and empty purses. All items remaining at the end of donation period will be donated to our local second-hand store.

MESSAGES OF KINDNESS AND ENCOURAGEMENT!

Accepting donations at my door in the blue bin provided, message me for address if needed. All donations will be given to local women in need, additional information to follow.

Thank you in advance to all giving to this cause.

Last day to donate is December 1st

Goal is 75 purses!!

We’ve done it last year, we can do it again !

UPDATE: During this past year we had a few residents give personal monetary donations. This form of donation is also welcome if preferred.

Since charities have not been chosen yet a decision has not been made as to where it will be spent. The monetary donations will either go towards filling more purses with products OR the purchasing of toys for the children of the women receiving the purses.

Christmas with the school children

Again, this year, we will have the privilege to welcome the Morin Heights school children!

They will decorate our outside Christmas tree and there will also be carolling with Ian Kelly’s music.

The date is Thursday December 15th from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, please join us 😊

Huge thank you to Penny Rose and the folks at Superfolk.
